DivX HEVC, 4K and Live Streaming Demonstrations
During CES 2014
-
Live Streaming: One of the first formats compliant with
MPEG-DASH, the newly unveiled DivX Live incorporates support
for HEVC to enable a new generation of TV Everywhere streaming
services that can offer high-quality access to linear programming and
live event broadcasting from mobile devices. At CES, DivX will
demonstrate an end to end solution including DivX Live adaptive HEVC
encoding from Elemental - a leading supplier of encoding solutions.
The live broadcast content will be streamed to an Android tablet at up
to a 720p resolution running the latest DivX player. Illustrating
industry adoption, the demonstration also features streams encoded by
Wowza Media Systems, a leading provider of media server software.
-
HEVC 4K Streaming: A live encoding and decoding flow of
streaming DivX HEVC UltraHD (4K) video to a set top box. The low power
live Ultra HD HEVC encoder is planned to run on the KALRAY MPPA
MANYCORE® processor and stream to a Bouygues Telecom Bbox
set top box service.
-
Consumer 4K: DivX 10.1 supports the free creation, playback and
streaming of high-quality DivX HEVC video up to 4K. The latest update
also adds new pre-defined encoding modes to DivX Converter, a DLNA
Controller to DivX Player, and support for offline playback of DivX
Plus Streaming content. DivX software for Windows and Mac has been
downloaded more than 1 billion times and DivX 10.1 is the latest
version in this product line.
-
Professional HEVC Encoding: The newly released MainConcept HEVC
SDK 2.0 is designed to streamline the integration of HEVC into video
applications and services in multiple environments. The latest version
continues to take significant strides in improving quality and
compression rates. Based on in-house tests, MainConcept HEVC SDK 2.0
delivers compression rates 37-50% better than AVC. The SDK now also
offers DASH HEVC in MP4 muxing/demuxing and optimized 4K encoding with
64x64 coding unit support.
The DivX end-to-end HEVC solution is designed to accelerate the adoption
of the latest compression standard across the entire video distribution
system. The solution comprises new MainConcept® encoding SDKs
for professional content creators; the DivX Video Service™
with DivX DRM for protected content delivery for service providers,
mobile operators and content retailers across multi-screen devices; DivX
10 consumer software tools for PC-based DivX HEVC creation and playback,
and an extension to the DivX Certification program to allow IC and OEM
customers to quickly bring to market mobile and consumer electronics
products that support high-quality DivX HEVC playback. DivX HEVC
Certified Devices will support an advanced feature set for media
playback including multi-language subtitles and audio tracks, trick-play
track for smooth fast forward and rewind, chapter points for quick scene
navigation, and resume playback across devices. To date, over one
billion DivX devices, including over 30,000 unique models, have shipped
worldwide from multiple major consumer electronics brands.
DivX plans to host private meetings and product demonstrations for
industry executives during the CES tradeshow in Las Vegas, January 7-10
at Caesars Palace. Invited attendees will have the opportunity to view
live demonstrations of the company’s end-to-end solution powering the
creation, delivery and multiscreen playback of next-generation video,
including 4K content using the new compression standard HEVC/H.265. For
