First IPTV Set-top Box Powered by G-Guide HTML Debuts in Japan
Significantly Enriching the User Experience
SAN CARLOS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
Rovi Corporation (NASDAQ: ROVI) announced today that Japan’s major
service provider, KDDI, selected Rovi’s G-Guide HTML to enable
entertainment discovery on the new Android TV based IPTV set-top box
(STB). Available this month to KDDI’s IPTV subscribers, the new set-top
box delivers advanced discovery experiences to users. This is the first
product to adopt Rovi G-Guide HTML for IPTV.
Rovi's G-Guide HTML is an HTML5-based interactive program guide to help
viewers easily find and record TV programs. It features a sleek
picture-in-picture TV guide listing grid designed to showcase rich
images, including program and cast photos. G-Guide HTML helps viewers to
easily switch from one program to another, while highlighting
connections and interrelated associations between actors and programs
using Rovi’s robust six-degree discovery capability. With the new
predictive search function of Rovi's G-Guide HTML, viewers can find
content by simply typing the first few letters of relevant words in
their favorite program titles or names of the starring cast.
“Our continued collaboration with KDDI further solidifies Rovi’s
leadership position in delivering cutting-edge entertainment discovery
solutions that further differentiate our customers’ services,” said
Michael Hawkey, senior vice president and general manager,
discovery, Rovi. “With so many content options available to consumers
today, solutions like Rovi’s G-Guide HTML, significantly enrich the
user’s discovery experience, resulting in increased consumption.”
