Rovi Corporation (NASDAQ: ROVI) today announced that Verizon
Communications Inc. has signed a multi-year patent license renewal that
runs into the next decade.
“Our patent license renewal with Verizon further confirms the
significant value of Rovi’s intellectual property portfolio,
particularly in the U.S. pay-TV market,” said Samir Armaly, executive
vice president, intellectual property and licensing, Rovi.
With this agreement, Rovi now has eight of the top 10 U.S. pay-TV
providers under license, with six of those having entered into new or
renewal agreements in just the last six quarters.
